Episode 4 guest Brendan Gallagher, Habs Alternate Captain, talks Montreal’s current season, inheriting his dad’s competitiveness and tells of some fun pranks he has pulled off on teammates.
Ray and Darren talk Nathan MacKinnon and the Avs 7-1-1 start to the season, and the comparisons being made to that other famous Sid guy who also played hockey in Cole Harbour, NS. They touch on what a machine David Pasternak is, and just how awesome it is to watch the magic between Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl this year. Montreal Canadiens alternate captain Brendan Gallagher joined Ray and Darren and discussed eclipsing 498 NHL games last week, how he feels as this season gets going, and how the players in Montreal have worked hard to change their identity and culture to produce a more positive, winning attitude in the locker room and on-the-ice so the team can turn the corner and get back to the playoffs. Brendan talks about how he acquired his competitive streak from his dad and told the story of the front-yard workout. Brendan details how as the commish of his fantasy football league he likes to change the drafting rules to favour his own team, shares how much he enjoys pissing-off his opponents on the ice and finally compares notes with Ray on a few of the memorable pranks they each have pulled on teammates. In this week’s edition of #ThroatPunch Darren puts forward the Josh Ho-Sang situation as his candidate while Ray nominated his chirpy son, and then puts forward the AHL, and questioned the merits of some of the excessive fighting of late, in developing future NHL players. The guys also discussed the need for having 1 and 1A goalies to be successful and talked about what is the right number of starts for each player in a goaltending tandem. In Ask Ray & Dregs this week the guys answered questions on whether they think there might be another team capable of pulling off a St. Louis-like worst-to-first run with a SCF appearance this NHL season, and Ray weighs in on giving 3 points for a win.
